Exploring chat as a library e-learning tool
At Aarhus University Library / Health Sciences a Nordplus subproject is testing chat as a means to create a collaborative library e-learning tool.
Students at Aarhus University / Health have access to online library support via their BlackBoard LMS when working on their projects and exams.
Our main goal is to promote the library – to ensure that the students know that the library is right at hand – and to create easy access to library resources and staff.
When students log on and enter the Adobe Connect chat room in BlackBoard our focus is on activating what the individual students already know and to guide them in their learning process.
Some AU students are regular library users studying on campus, often in the library itself, others work at home and some even work at a greater distance – for instance when they attend training at Aarhus University while employed elsewhere and far away from AU and the library.
The project ambition is to create a relevant library e-learning tool supporting the existing library platforms and connecting the library staff with the students.
