    Danish website for communication of research results to the public. Includes:

  • Den Store Danske
    Danish comprehensive general encyclopedia; many articles concerning specific Danish matters (in Danish).
  • Oxford Reference Online
    Multidisciplinary e-book database with acknowledged reference works from Oxford University Press. Also includes collections of quotes, illustrations, maps, and historical timelines, as well as:
  • The Encyclopedia of Aesthetics, 2nd ed., 2014. Contains more than 600 articles on critical thought on art, culture, and society, from classical philosophy to contemporary critical.

  • International Encyclopedia of the Social and Behavioral Sciences
    Online version of N. J. Smelser and P. B. Baltes’ 26-volume lexicon on the social sciences. The encyclopedia contains larger articles with cross references and bibliographical references covering subjects as anthropology, demography, ethnology, economy, political science, psychology, pedagogics, sociology, gender studies, media studies, etc. By using the ‘browse’ function, you can search by keywords, titles, and authors, or you can search systematically via the subject classification.
  • Medie- og Kommunikationsleksikon
    A Danish encyclopedia on the central concepts and methods within media theory and -history.
  • Encyclopedia of anthropology
    Online version of the 5-volume encyclopedia edited by H. James Birx, Canisius College, NY, 2006. Contains 1200 entries on people, concepts, and theories in the field of anthropology.
  • Encyclopedia of Human Relationships
    Reference work from 2009, edited by Harra T. Reis, University of Rochester – articles on friendship, marriage, kinship, social communities, dating, etc. Contains both thematic and alphabetic entries.
  • Encyclopedia of Social Measurement
    Reference work containing more than 300 articles on method and analysis within the social sciences. Among other subjects, it covers quantitative and qualitative techniques of researching and analyzing, as well as statistics and sampling. Furthermore, it provides examples of datasets, testing strategies, etc.
  • Encyclopedia of Urban Studies
    Reference work of two volumes from 2010, edited by Ray Hutchison, University of Wisconsin. Contains both thematic and alphabetic entries.

Article databases

  • Bibliotek.dk – Search for articles
    This Danish article database contains Danish newspaper- and journal articles.
  • ProQuest Research Library
    Multidisciplinary journal database which indexes about 5000 journals, containing more than 3500 full-text journals.

    Collection of databases that covers a wide variety of subjects within the scope of humanities, social studies, science, and medicine. It is possible to search across all of these – or to limit the search to e.g. ‘Arts’ or ‘Social sciences’.
  • Scopus
    This is the largest database of abstracts and citations from peer-reviewed literature, covering scientific journals, books, and conference proceedings. It covers a large number of international journals within the social and natural sciences but is also relevant for studies in the humanities and information/media. Many of the articles are accessible in full text. All abstracts and keywords are in English, regardless of the original language of the article. The entries contain references and citations. Dating from 1966 and forward.
  • Annual Reviews
    Database of journals containing review articles on the development of research within anthropology, psychology, linguistics, and natural and political science. All articles are written by leading researchers within their area and are peer-reviewed.
  • JSTOR
    Journal database with full-text access to the leading academic journals within all subject areas. NB: it is usually not possible to access the most recent 3-5 volumes, but it is possible to access publications before that.
  • Project Muse
    Journal database with full-text access to high quality journals within the humanities and social science. The database provides access to the most recent issues and sometimes to back issues as well.
  • Web of Science
    Multidisciplinary database of high academic quality. Try limiting your search to e.g.:
    - Social Sciences Citation Index
    or/and
    - Arts & Humanities Citation Index on the bottom of the front page under ‘More settings’.

Bibliographies

  • Bibliotek.dk
    National bibliography of all publications in Denmark dating back to 1841. Also contains catalogues of all Danish libraries (public and academic libraries).
  • The Danish National Research Database
    English language available. Bibliographic database with references to Danish research publications from especially Danish universities, but also from other institutions of higher education, governmental research institutions, research councils etc. Search results can be sorted by scientific level. The database is continuously updated and is the best covering collection of Danish research on all subjects.
  • EBSCOhost
    Multidisciplinary collection of databases on articles, journals, and bibliographies, e.g.:
    • Anthropology Plus
      A bibliographic database of references covering all forms of anthropology: the social, cultural, physical, biological, medical and linguistic anthropologies. Also includes folklore, material culture and archeology.
    • Communication and Mass Media Complete
      This database contains two merged bibliographies previously published separately; the CommSearch and the Mass Media Articles Index. It also contains several full-text journals within the subject of communication and mass media. CMMC can be useful to researchers of communication and media within all subjects. It is possible to search throughout the whole database or narrow your search to one database or bibliography. The database is currently being updated.

E-books and online archives

  • Intelex Past Masters
    E-book database providing electronic access to classics within e.g. philosophy. Includes works of Fichte, Hegel, Kant, Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Peirce, Schelling, Schopenhauer, and Wittgenstein.
  • Oxford Scholarship Online
    Grants access to a wide selection of books from Oxford University Press. Only full-text access to the subjects that AU Library subscribes for example, Classical Studies, Linguistics, Literature, Philosophy and Religion. On other subjects, access is only granted to the abstracts of the books.
  • Ebook Central
    Multidisciplinary e-book. The works are predominantly in English and are published in well established English and American publishing houses. The database is frequently updated with new titles, but titles can also be removed.

Newspaper and media

  • Infomedia
    InfoMedia is a large newspaper database with full-text access to a number of Danish newspapers, nationwide as well as local weekly newspapers, newsletters and magazines. The articles date back to around 1990.
  • Altinget
    Online newspaper regarding Danish politics – news, backgrounds, analyses, and portraits. Also includes polls, press announcements, and other news from the Danish Parliament.
  • Filmcentralen/For alle
    Filmcentralen/For alle is the Danish Film Institute’s streaming service with short- and documentary films. It includes both newer and more classic films. There is also provided information, background articles, and recommendations to the films. NB: Filmcentralen/For alle is a free service which provides access to a large collection of films. If you are asked for a UNI-login, it means you do not have access to the film.
  • Kulturmonitor
    Kulturmonitor is a digital news media which covers the news, the debates and the analyses within the area of film, performing arts, art, music, literature and cultural politics. Published by Monitormedier A/S.
  • Nexis Uni
    International database with access to newspapers and information on issues about law, markets and corporations.

  • Netarkivet
    A collection of Danish webpages which have been collected, preserved, and made available since the legal deposit law of 2005.

Streaming

  • Larm.fm
    Gives researchers and students access to stream Danish radio shows dating from 1931 until today. Furthermore, it provides a bibliography on all radio- and TV-programs broadcasted by DR from 1925-1983.
  • Mediestream
    Available in English. Mediestream provides radio- and TV-programs from selected Danish channels since December 2005. Mediestream is continuously updated with the most recent radio and TV, however with a delay of about two weeks. Broadcasts sent before December 2005 can be found on DVD through the library.
